Whole E Sheet: Here's how to get your Sheet together

You are looking at a budget tracker app that behaves like a spreadsheet. The summary and charts are auto calculated. You can start with just the income and expected expenses, and add actual expenses as you spend.

What you see the first time

If you are not signed in, the sheet is filled with sample numbers. You can click around, open menus, and see how the charts move without mixing demo data with your real month.

Sign in so your details are saved

Use the green profile button on the top bar/header and sign in with Google in one click. After that, each month saves to your account. You can leave and come back on another computer/mobile and the numbers will still be there.

Pick the month

Under This month’s budget you will see two large dropdowns, side by side: month and year. By default the current month and year are selected. Change them when you want to look at April, or next January, without losing the data you just left.

Set your currency from the menu.

The three headline figures - money coming in, money going out, left to spend are updated automatically as you type.

Start with money coming in

Fill Full time first: a name, the credit date, what you expected, and what you actually got in hand. Side hustle is the same layout for extra income - tuition, a shop, freelance, whatever you want to name.

A useful habit: put the expected amount on day one. Fill earned when the money is in the account.

You do not need to fill every row. You can also add more rows as you need them.

Log expenses daily as they happen

The yellow Expense tracker is the daily tool. Each row is a date, an amount, and a category. Those amounts roll into the matching expense category’s “spent” column. You do not have to type spent by hand on the expenses table.

The sort button orders the tracker by date or by amount. + adds a row. You can copy, cut, and paste selected cells the way you would in a spreadsheet.

Mark bills/expenses as subscriptions

Click on (+) to open the details sidebar on a 'Bills' or 'Tracker' section row to mark them as subscriptions. Turn recurring on. Set a start date. Set an end date, or leave it blank and the sheet copies about a year forward. You can choose monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

These subscriptions will be automatically added to the future months, until the end date is reached.

If you want an email reminder before the renewal date, turn the reminder on. You need to be signed in for that. We use the address you signed in with.

Mobile mode

The Mobile Mode switch is for logging an expense easily on mobile without opening the whole grid. Just enter amount, category and save.

You need to be signed in for the expense to save.

Share and export

When you are signed in, open the green profile button. Share this month builds a snapshot card you can download or share as a PNG. Export downloads Excel or CSV.
